Convocation

Virtual Technologies, Learning center of India's Largest Technical University, PTU organized its 4^th Convocation Ceremony on February 15, 2011 at Una. The occasion was graced by the Dean Distance Education Programme, Punjab Technical University, Dr.N.P.Singh as the Chief Guest. It was a day of fond remembrance and achievement for the 80 graduates who received their degrees on the day with their parents and faculty in attendance. The Convocation Ceremony started with the lighting of the lamp of wisdom by the presided Chief Guest Mr. Satosh Patial, Superintend of Police, District UNA and other guests of honour.

Guest of honour Mr. Maneet Dewan, Regional Head in his speech said that it is a memorable occasion and a land mark for all of us to have our esteemed Dean DEP, PTU Dr. N.P.Singh as the Chief Guest for the 4^th Convocation of PTU Learning Center, Virtual Technologies. He also added that on behalf of students, parents/guardians, staff and on my own, we welcome you, with greatest reverence and highest admiration on the occasion of Degree convocation in the city of UNA. He also shared various accomplishments and achievements of the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour of the occasion. The welcome speech was followed by cultural programs performed by students of learning center. The students were fantastic in the programs they represented on the occasion.

Chief Guest, Dr.N.P.Singh delivered the convocation address. He conferred the degrees/diplomas to the Graduates/Post-Graduates/ Diploma Holders and bestow honour upon other deserving candidates of the university for their achievements.

He spoke about the usage of emerging technologies and the techniques in the delivery of education. Further, he highlighted the importance and success rate PTU DEP students in the global market. Enforcing the positives and strong points about distance education programme, he brought a sense of feel good factor about being a part of such a flexible mode of education where a student gets an opportunity to learn while working. Supported by facts and figures, he enlightened the entire audience which included students, teachers and parents. He also said that Convocation is an important University tradition. It provides us with the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines. Further he said “Today we honor students whose achievements exemplify the University’s commitment to academic excellence, committed and creative leadership, and thoughtful service. These students have demonstrated a passion for learning – challenging themselves and their teachers with tough questions and innovative ideas that stretch the boundaries of knowledge and open new pathways for exploration.

Mr. Sarabjeet Singh Chadha, Center Head of the institution congratulated students and said that we also want to recognize, with deep appreciation, the parents, family members, and friends who have nurtured and supported these remarkable young people. The Punjab Technical University shares the pride you feel in their accomplishments.
