- PTU is a state government University established by Govt. of Punjab by a state legislative Act.
- PTU is recognized under section 2(f) of UGC act and offers programs only as per nomenclature defined by UGC.
All degrees awarded by PTU recognized by University Grant Commission
- All regular colleges of PTU are approved by AICTE
- PTU is a member of AIU (Association of Indian Universities)
- PTU degrees are recognized world over including certification by NARRIC for Britain
- By the virtue of its act (Section 4) the jurisdiction of the University is the entire country. MSC-IT of PTU is rated equivalent to Masters Degree in Britain.
- Degrees and Diplomas are recognized for equivalence and lateral entry by New College Nottingham, City college Norwich, Birmingham City University, University College Birmingham.
